Central Star Cooperative recognizes top herds

Central Star Cooperative has recognized seven producers with herds showing high reproductive efficiency rates.

The top herds are:

Horning Farms, LLC, Manchester, Michigan

Towns Farms, Inc., Janesville, Wisconsin

Hillside Dairy, LLC, Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin

Kenealy Dairy Farms, Cadott, Wisconsin

Jauquet Hillview Dairy, Luxemburg, Wisconsin

Wayside Dairy, Greenleaf, Wisconsin

Kieler Farms, Inc., Platteville, Wisconsin

CentralStar consultant Cole Mark says they saw an increase in the number of mature cows in their herds because of producers’ ability to get cows pregnant year after year and strength in reproductive efficiency in the heifer populations.  Mark says these trends go back to the rising costs of commodities and raising heifer replacements, and these farms are benefiting from lower-rearing costs, more mature cows, and more pounds of milk shipped per stall.
