Cheese and butter stocks lower than a year ago

Monthly Cold Storage Report from USDA shows total cheese stocks in the nation’s warehouses as of May 31^st 1.067 billion pounds up 3 percent from the end of April but 7 percent less than at the end of May in 2013. American type cheese stocks up 1 percent for the month at 656.8 million pounds but down 8 percent from a year ago.

Butter in cold storage at the end of May totaled 192.5 million pounds up 11 percent for the month but down 40 percent from a year ago.
