Cheese producers recognized at Gov. Ag Summit

The two founders of Valley Queen Cheese in eastern South Dakota have posthumously received the 2023 Governors Ag Ambassador award.

Alfred Nef and Alfred Gozenbach worked together at a Wisconsin cheese factory before starting a cheese business in Milbank in 1929.

South Dakota’s Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden says Valley Queen Cheese has recently expanded their production facility.

“They’re providing the dairy industry with 140 new jobs and the capacity and need for 30,000 more dairy cows in South Dakota.”

The award was given during the South Dakota Governor’s Ag Summit in Watertown, South Dakota.
