China buys U.S. rice

USA Rice President and CEO Betsy Ward says the first-ever sale of U.S. rice to China marks a turning point for the industry and sets the stage for continued growth with the country.

California-based Sun Valley Rice struck the deal with a private importer during the World Rice Summit in China.

Ken LaGrande, the company’s CEO, says 15 years of patience and hard work paid off. He said it’s an honor and privilege to blaze this trail of trading history.

USA Rice says it will hold two more seminars in China this summer in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
