China could be source of badly needed good news for ethanol industry

The ethanol industry is desperate for good news, and Ron Lamberty with the American Coalition for Ethanol tells Brownfield it could come from China.

“I think there’s still hope that China will buy some ethanol. They did buy some, but it was a very, very small amount. And i think it was a non-denatured type to be used either food or cleaning products.”

He says to this point, China has not come close to some of the volumes that have been talked about in phase one.

“We’re still hopeful, but we haven’t heard anything. And who knows with some of the other rhetoric that’s going around right now, whether that will effect (the trade deal).”

President Trump told Fox News Friday he’s “having a very hard time with China” over its handling of the coronavirus outbreak, and he hasn’t decided how to handle the trade relationship.
