Cooperative Network tabs DATCP’s Smith as CEO

A large Upper Midwest cooperative has selected an official with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture (DATCP) to be its new president and CEO.

Cooperative Network, which serves nearly 400 co-ops in Wisconsin and Minnesota, chose Daniel Smith to lead the organization.

Smith has spent the last four years serving as the Agricultural Development Division Administrator at DATCP.

Cooperative Network board chair William Zuhlke says Smith’s background and appreciation for and understanding of the cooperative way made him the ideal choice.

The Network supports member co-ops in a number of ways, including advocacy, education, and public awareness.

Smith begins his new role February 28th.
