Corn harvest 9% complete in Tennessee

Corn harvest is underway in parts of Tennessee and yields in parts of the state are disappointing.  Corn harvest is 9% complete, on pace with the 5-year average.  Corn is 87% dented and 42% mature.

Soybeans are rated 60% good to excellent, with 95% setting pods, and 15% dropping leaves.  Cotton is rated 55% good to excellent with 26% of bolls opening.  Cotton and soybean growers have been busy with fieldwork preparing for the upcoming harvest. Tobacco is 55% cut.

Pastures are rated 53% good to excellent as some areas have seen improvement with cooler weather.

Topsoil moisture is 74% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is 74% adequate to surplus.
