Corn, wheat export inspections stay slow

 

The USDA reports soybean export inspections for the week ending November 23rd were more than what’s needed to meet projections for the 2017/18 marketing year, while corn and wheat fell short of their respective marks.

Wheat came out at 344,721 tons, up 84,417 from the week ending November 16th and 99,317 higher than the week ending November 24th, 2016. For the 2017/18 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 12,341,580 tons, compared to 13,114,460 in 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 638,711 tons, down 21,050 from the previous week and 190,216 lower than this time last year. At this point in the marketing year, corn inspections are 7,249,396 tons, compared to 12,567,302 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,578,592 tons, a decline of 696,920 from the week before and 665,375 less than a year ago. Just short of a quarter into the marketing year, soybean inspections are 20,908,394 tons, compared to 24,181,859 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 107,761 tons, an increase of 42,036 on the week, but a decrease of 58,029 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 815,430 tons, compared to 991,346 in 2016/17.
