Dairy leaders talking about Perdue nomination
The nomination of Sonny Perdue as the next Agriculture Secretary has dairy leaders talking.
Mike North is the newly-elected President of the Dairy Business Association, and tells Brownfield Perdue could help dairy exports. He says, “Obviously, he doesn’t bring a lot of Midwestern agricultural experience, but he does have a wealth of foreign trade experience, and I say that in terms of actual on-the-ground transactional trade, so as you look forward, hopefully some of our concerns about exports and being able to establish and maintain relationships and some of the concerns that have surrounded all of that will be put at ease.”
North says like many, they will be watching over the next several months to see how Perdue governs USDA, and what steps he takes in shaping the 2018 farm bill.
