Dow dedicates seed lab at Purdue Research Park

Purdue University and Dow AgroSciences dedicated a 35,000 sq foot seed testing lab at the Purdue Research Park, yesterday.  Antonio Galindez, president and CEO of Dow AgroSciences says work done at the new Seed Quality Control Lab will help address the challenges of feeding a growing population.  “We are in the business of technology for advancing agriculture,” he says.  “Indiana and Purdue are a critical component of that initiative and solution.”  The new seed quality control lab will test seed germination, genetic purity, and trait purity.

Jay Akeridge, Dean of the College of Ag says the seed lab will provide students the hands on experience they need to be successful.  “These facilities, because they are so close,” he says, “make interaction with our faculty, staff, and students very convenient.”  Akeridge adds that opens up a lot of possibilities on the researching front and the teaching front and gives us something to build on as we look down the road.

The seed testing lab is in addition Dow AgroSciences’ current presence at the Purdue Research Park in Wast Lafayette.
