Up to their elbows in cranberries

One of the main goals of the Wisconsin State Fair is to educate the public about agriculture and while the rides and the shows draw a lot of interest, so do the agricultural displays. Debbie Eggert is a Special Education teacher in the Franklin Public School district but at the fair, she is the lady behind the big cranberry display in the Ag Oasis. The display features a large water tank filled with floating cranberries alongside a big planter filled with cranberry plants loaded with green berries. Eggert explains to visitors how the cranberries are grown and harvested, they can put their hands in the water and push the berries around to get an idea how the harvest works. The whole thing is sponsored by the Wisconsin Cranberry Growers Association and McDonalds.
