Farm Bureau pleased with federal spending package

The U.S. Senate has passed two 2020 government funding packages, avoiding a government shutdown like what the U.S. endured a year ago.

American Farm Bureau’s Terry Moore tells Brownfield the Biodiesel Tax Credit was restored. She says, “It is retroactively being extended to apply to 2018 and 2019 and then through 2022.”

Moore says the addition of 1.5 billion in additional disaster aid will expand recovery efforts for farmers impacted by severe weather during the last two years. “As you know, Mother Nature was not a very good business partner so these funds will be really, really important to help some farmers hold on.”

Farm Bureau also praised the government funding bills for adding 550 million to broadband expansion, ten million dollars to the Farmer and Rancher Stress Assistance Network, and for delaying the requirement for livestock haulers to use electronic logging devices.
