A tornado touched down in a rural part of south-central Iowa Tuesday evening, causing damage to several farming operations.

Jeff Anderson, Marion County Emergency Management Director, tells Brownfield the twister developed near Pleasantville around 7 p.m.

“We’ve seen some farm ag buildings that had some damage,” he said, “but unfortunately, a couple of them were completely destroyed.”

He says damage assessments continue. “Cleaning up debris that we’ve seen littered among the farm fields should be much easier because the crops are not in.”

Anderson says no injuries have been reported from Tuesday’s storm.
