Farmers Union discusses budget


Wisconsin Farmers Union members are discussing Wisconsin’s state budget priorities.

Members have concerns with the proposed Wisconsin budget released by Governor Scott Walker, and they’re looking for support on issues important to agriculture.  The budget calls for cuts to rural schools and the farm to school program.  Members are also talking about transportation infrastructure, broadband expansion, and the high-capacity well bill that just passed the State Senate this morning.

Farmers Union members are also discussing this week’s decision by Grassland to terminate milk contracts and what that might mean to the industry.  Ideas from these regional meetings will be used to guide their lobbying efforts

The Wisconsin Farmers Union held four spring meetings to discuss the budget and policy issues.
