Favorable soybean yields to begin harvest in Nebraska

A Northeast Nebraska farmer says she’s surprised by some soybean yields.

Anne Meis tells Brownfield some dryland yields have topped 50 bushels per acre. “It came in about 13 percent moisture, and it’s combining well. It’s really looking good.”

As for her corn crop, she says, “We had just enough timely rains it’s looking pretty good.  We haven’t made an estimate on what our yields are going to be yet.  We are hoping for over 200 on our irrigated.”

Meis says the area received about a half-inch of rain Thursday night, and while that will delay harvest it will help recharge the soil profile.
