FDA rule published for transported foods
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published its final food safety rule for food on the move. The rule calls for best sanitation practices for food in transit – things like proper refrigeration, cleanliness of containers and other protections for transported foods.
Larger businesses will have to comply with the new regulations this time next year. Smaller ones get two years to start compliance.
The rule is one of the final steps of implementing the Food Safety Modernization Act.
