Finding your fit

When it comes time for a high school student to begin the process of choosing a college there are a lot of questions and a lot of options available. As an example there’s the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University, Columbus campus, or there’s the Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) at Wooster.

“We really try to inform our prospective parents, our prospective students with the information as to what those opportunities that is available both at the Columbus Campus and at ATI,” said Jill Tyson, Coordinator of Prospective Student Services at the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). “And help them understand that students at both campuses are directly enrolled in the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, so you don’t have to be just at the Columbus Campus to be a part of this wonderful college.”

David Dietrich, Director of Admissions at ATI says while the curriculum is similar to the Columbus campus, some students find the size of ATI better suited to them.

“We have about 650 students on our campus, our student-to-faculty ratio is 17 to 1 and our average class size is approximately 20 to 25,” Dietrich said. “So that’s really very attractive to a lot of students who are looking for a lot of that personalized type of educational experiences.”
