Friday is “Thank You, Domino’s” day

The Animal Agriculture Alliance has designated Friday, June 2 as “Thank You, Domino’s” Day.

Domino’s has come under fire from animal rights and vegan activists for comments made by a company spokesman, who said “farmers know best” when it comes to taking care of animals. He also referred to groups that are pressuring food companies to adopt stricter animal care standards as “extremists”.

Hannah Thompson-Weeman with the Alliance says the special day is a way to say thanks to Domino’s Pizza for supporting America’s farmers and ranchers and refusing to give in to the activists’ demands.

“It is so exciting and such a breath of fresh air to hear a restaurant and retail chain that really recognizes the expertise that farmers and ranchers have in animal welfare, how animals should be raised, and how to care for them and keep them healthy,” Thompson-Weeman says

Farmers and others in agriculture are encouraged to order a Domino’s Pizza on Friday and share a picture of it on social media with the hashtag #FarmersThankDominos.

“We want to bring some positivity on social media and just give that resounding message that farmers and ranchers appreciate Domino’s and view them a valued partner in the process of raising food and getting it to consumers,” Thompson-Weeman says.

More information on the campaign can be found on the Animal Agriculture Alliance’s web site.
