Good time to lock in ’24 propane needs

This could be an opportune time to lock in propane supplies for the 2024 harvest.

Central Farm Service cooperative energy sales manager Eric Hopp says propane supplies have grown thanks to a dry harvest and mild start to winter.

“Definitely at the local level we figure we probably missed at least one turn on propane tanks now with the mild winter, which is great for the consumer (and) not so good for the retailer.”

Speaking to Brownfield at the MN Ag Expo in Mankato Thursday, he said propane prices are attractive for farmers looking to secure needs for harvest.

“The price currently being where it’s at, I definitely believe we’re at a good spot to be looking at locking in some of those needs. Even if it’s just budget-wise, just to kind of know where you stand.”

Hopp encourages farmers to secure a quarter to half of their 2024 propane supplies now.
