Grower says prioritizing investments is key to success

With a tightening farm economy, central Iowa farmer Justin Rumple says they prioritize investments on his farming operation.  “One of the main things we look at is seed choices,” he says.  “That’s a huge thing for us.  If you get the right seed on the right acre you’re going to get the yield.  And the bushels is going to mean more money and that will raise your bottom line in the end.”

He tells Brownfield after some challenges early on – conditions are beginning to look up.  “Things look pretty good right now,” he says.  “I mean it’s a little dry back home and it’s been tough.  But we did get a couple of timely rains last week so that’s been good.  And the plant health looks great so far.”

Rumple raises corn and soybeans about an hour west of Des Moines.
