Growth Energy gives Biden EPA early mixed reviews

An official with Growth Energy expresses both disappointment and optimism when describing recent actions by EPA and comments from its new administrator.

In response to EPA extending the Renewable Volume Obligation compliance deadline for refiners, Chris Bliley says they are disappointed.

“I mean we’re talking about 2019 and 2020 obligations. They’ve had plenty of time to comply.”

He tells Brownfield the integrity of the Renewable Fuel Standard needs to be restored, something new EPA administrator Michael Regan talked about during Wednesday’s Agri-Pulse Ag and Food Policy Summit.

“I think his comments about getting the RFS back on track, including more transparency, is certainly very very positive. As well as their position on the Supreme Court case.”

Bliley says because EPA sided with last year’s 10th Circuit Court decision, there should be far fewer small refinery exemptions compared to the past few years.
