Claire Masker tells Brownfield a record number of participated from Giving Tuesday through the holidays.

“Pig farmers and people in agriculture just love to give back give back to their community.  The goal is to share the stories of how pig farmers have paid it forward.”

Donation events also took place in seven states including Illinois, North Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio, and Minnesota. “We partnered with Smithfield Foods and Prairie Fresh Pork in Illinois as well as the Pork Power Donation Program that the Illinois Pork Producers has and donated over 90,000 pounds to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.”

Masker says donations are also tracked through social media using #HamsAcrossAmerica and highlight pig farmers’ commitment to their We Care ethical principles.
