Harvest across Nebraska picks up pace

A week of warm, dry weather helped Nebraska farmers pick up steam for corn and soybean harvests.

The USDA says 22 percent of the corn crop is in and 53 percent is rated good-to-excellent.

Twenty-nine percent of soybeans are harvested with 47 percent good-to-excellent.

Winter wheat planting is wrapping with 79 percent done and 38 percent emerged.

Fourteen percent of sorghum has been harvested.

Pasture and range conditions are rated 43 percent good-to-excellent.

Subsoil moisture is rated 38 percent adequate-to-surplus and topsoil moisture is rated 44 percent adequate-to-surplus.
