House passes WRRDA

By an overwhelming vote of 417 to 3, the U.S. House on Wednesday passed the Water Resources Reform and Development (WRRDA) Act of 2013.

Ohio Congressman Bob Gibbs who chairs the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee says the WRRDA bill is reform driven and contains no earmarks, adding the bill increases transparency and allows Congressional oversight in reviewing future water resource development projects.

“And give direction to the Army Corps of Engineers to make sure that these projects move forward in a cost effective manner and timely as possible,” said Congressman Gibbs.

The bill will now go to a House and Senate conference committee.

“I think the conference will move here in the next few weeks and we’ll this bill passed into law well before the end of the year,” Gibbs said.
