House tax bill that includes biodiesel credit to be voted on Thursday

The House Ways and Means Committee will vote on a tax bill Thursday that includes the Biodiesel Tax Credit.

Kurt Kovarik with the National Biodiesel Board says the proposal would extend the $1-per gallon credit through 2020.

“If acted on, and enacted soon after, it would provide our industry a little bit of prospective certainty.”

He tells Brownfield while NBB is pleased the committee is moving forward with the comprehensive tax bill, it does not have bipartisan support.

“While I don’t think this is a package that would probably pass through the Senate and be signed into law by the President, it is important for the House Democrats to have a position on many of these issues so the conversation can begin.”

Kovarik points out the Senate Finance Committee introduced a similar package in February.  He says the House action this week sends a strong signal that there is bipartisan, bicameral support for the Biodiesel Tax Credit.
