HPAI detected in Branch County

The Michigan Department of Agriculture has confirmed its third case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in a backyard poultry flock over the past week.

A 20-bird mixed-species flock in Branch County has been found with the virus and the department says it has been depopulated.

The virus has been reported in eight counties across the state since the end of February but has remained out of commercial flocks so far.
