IL Beef Expo brings “best of Illinois beef”

An annual event featuring the “best of Illinois beef” returns to the Illinois State Fairgrounds this week. 

The 2024 Illinois Beef Expo kicks off Thursday.  Devin Bollman, communications manager at the Illinois Beef Association, says the Illinois Performance Tested Bull Sale is the Expo’s leadoff event…

“We’ve got quite a great offering of bulls lined up for that sale,” she says, “and you know, the best of Illinois beef comes out here at Illinois Beef Expo with our bull test sale. It’s different commercial cattle or even seedstock cattle from across the state that producers put up.”

Bollman tells Brownfield other highlights of the Expo include the newly expanded three-day Junior Show, as well as other opportunities…

“We have our junior livestock judging contest that Blackhawk puts on,” she says, “our Beef Skill-a-thon; our Illinois Junior Beef Association meeting; our trade show, which we have so many great vendors down there; and then we even have a couple more sales.”
