Illinois corn and soybean condition ratings bounce back

The USDA’s crop condition rating for both corn and soybeans in Illinois improved more than 10 percentage points week over week.

As of Sunday, Illinois soybeans are rated 78% good to excellent compared to 67% the week before and in line with this time last year. 93% of the crop is blooming with 71% setting pods, both slightly ahead of the five-year average.

The state’s corn condition rating reached 79% good to excellent, compared to 68% the week before and 78% at this time last year. 66% of the crop is in the dough stage with 3% dented, 10 percentage points behind average.

Pasture conditions also improved, jumping from 59% to 73% good to excellent.
