Illinois corn beginning to mature

The corn crop in Illinois has started to reach maturity.

As of Sunday, the USDA reports 1% of corn is mature with 39% in the dent stage. The crop is considered 64% good to excellent, unchanged on the week.

86% of soybeans are setting pods with 65% rated good to excellent, down 5 percentage points from the week before.

Pasture conditions also fell slightly to 34% good to excellent and the third cutting of alfalfa hay is 69% complete.
