Indiana farmer reporting strong yields as 2026 harvest reaches midpoint

A west-central Indiana farmer says he’s about halfway through the 2026 harvest season.

Tyler Everett says this year’s crop has exceeded expectations.

“Our soybean yields have been tremendous,” he says. “We’ve seen everything from good to extremely good. These are probably some of the highest soybean yields we’ve consistently seen in several years.”

According to the latest USDA crop progress and conditions report, Indiana corn is 77 percent mature, 21 percent harvested and rated 61 percent good to excellent. Soybeans are 86 percent dropping leaves, 27 percent harvested and rated 63 percent good to excellent.

He tells Brownfield input costs continue to be a challenge.

“With the governor’s order letting us use the red dyed fuel, it’s definitely going to help,” he says. “With fuel prices, fertilizer prices, equipment prices, and labor costs, every bushel and every dollar is going to count.”

Everett raises corn and soybeans in Lebanon, Indiana.
