The Indiana FFA has elected its 2017-18 state officer team.  Claire Baney of Hamilton Southeastern FFA will serve the next year as president of the organization.  Baney says one of her goals is to get more students, from a diverse background involved in the organization.

She says there is something for everyone. “With that mentality I really think we can bring in a lot more members to become involved in our association and in FFA,” she says.  “To develop better leaders for our ag industry, and not just the ag industry but our world in general.”

Baney tells Brownfield she doesn’t have a farm background and her first involvement in the organization came her freshman year in high school.  “I learned then creed and then jumped right into FFA and soak in every moment and opportunity that I could,” she says.  “That’s really what led me to become even more involved in the organization and the industry.”

Also elected as part of the state officer team: Emily Kilmer of Tri-County FFA will serve as Secretary; Owen Coon of North Montgomery FFA is the North Region Vice President; Wyatt Law of Hoosier Hills FFA is the South Region Vice President; Treasurer is Cole Pearson of the Delphi FFA; Reporter is Natalie Taylor of the Hope FFA; and Grant Sanchez of Fairfield FFA is the Sentinel.
