Indiana harvest in full swing
A week of dry weather helped advance crop maturity and advance harvest around the state.
According to the latest weekly Crop and Weather Report 18 percent of the state’s corn crop has been harvested, 70 percent is mature and 96 percent of the crop has dented. Forty-eight percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.
Twenty-three percent of soybeans have been harvested and 81 percent of the crop is dropping leaves and 48 percent is rated good to excellent.
Farmers continue to cut alfalfa for hay with 45 percent on its 4th cutting and 95 percent on its third and 81 percent of the state’s tobacco crop has been harvested.
