Iowa farmer discusses white mold, SDS concerns

A southwest Iowa farmer says disease pressure was prevalent in his soybean fields this year.

Ray Gaesser farms near Corning in Adams County. “Particularly, it seemed like where there had been cattle around or an old building site, we had a fair amount of white mold in those areas of the field.”

He tells Brownfield he will need to make some adjustments next year. “Our treatments have kind of run out, so it’s really more about variety selection than anything. We only have one that I’d say I’m kind of concerned about. The rest of them, were overall pretty healthy.”

Gaesser says sudden death syndrome was another concern.
