Iowa farmers ready to turn the page on 2019

The president of Iowa Farm Bureau, Craig Hill, says farmers are looking forward to turning the page on 2019. 

Much of that is related to this year’s challenging weather conditions, but Hill says trade uncertainties are also weighing heavily on farmers.

“You get your hopes up with an announcement, and then you find out it’s dashed away because it’s not real or it’s not actually happening,” Hill says. “You can’t trust what you hear.”

Hill says a resolution of trade issues, including USMCA and China, would give farmers a boost heading into 2020.

Iowa Farm Bureau is holding its annual meeting in Des Moines this week.
