Iowa harvest remains ahead of schedule despite rain

Cold, damp conditions bogged down harvest progress in Iowa last week.

USDA’s latest crop update says above-average precipitation statewide limited fieldwork, with some areas receiving more than three inches of rain.

Corn harvest remains ahead of normal at 42 percent.  Soybeans are 74 percent harvested, one day ahead of last year and nine days ahead of the five-year average.

Fall tillage continues, and dry fertilizer is also being applied.
