Iowans recognized for BQA efforts

cattle grazing-southwest iowaTwo Iowa livestock entities were honored with national Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) awards at last week’s Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio.

Couser Cattle Company of Nevada received the BQA Feed Yard Award for making BQA principles a part of day-to-day activities in its operation.  Knoxville Regional Livestock of Knoxville received the BQA Marketer Award for its efforts to promote BQA principles on a daily basis.

Other BQA award winners were:

*Brackett Ranches from Castleford, Idaho (BQA Cow Calf Award)

*Oregon Dairy Farm, Lititz, Pa. (BQA Dairy Award

*Dr. Dan Thomsen, The Beef Cattle Institute at Kansas State University (BQA Educator of the Year Award)

BQA is a national program that provides guidelines for beef cattle production. The program’s goal is to raise consumer confidence in beef by offering proper management techniques and a commitment to quality within every segment of the beef industry.

BQA is funded by the Beef Checkoff.
