It’s all about the youth

Wisconsin’s Fairest of the Fair Deanna Schlies says the main purpose of the fair is a celebration of youth, “The youth are so important to the history, the foundation and the future of our programs.” Schlies says the fair offers an opportunity for those not involved to see the variety of projects that are available. That is especially true at the Wisconsin State Fair where many of the people coming through the gate are from the Milwaukee urban area.

So far, Schlies says her best experience was when they “took the fair to the kids” at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital.
