JBS recalls 6.5 million pounds of beef due to salmonella

Arizona-based meat processor JBS Tolleson is recalling more than 6.5 million pounds of beef that may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) say the items were packaged from July 25, 2018 to September 7, 2018 and all are labeled with the establishment number “EST.267” (found within the USDA mark of inspection).  These products were shipped to retail locations nationwide under brand names Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Gourmet Burger, Grass Run Farms Natural Beef, JBS Generic, Showcase, and Walmart.

If purchased, consumers should not eat these products and they should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

To date, there have been 57 cases of salmonella-related illness reported in 16 states.
