Lt. Governor signs MOUs in Taiwan
Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann’s trade mission to Asia continues as the delegation made its way to Taipei, Taiwan this week. At the conclusion of meetings with various government officials this week, Lt. Governor Ellspermann signed three Memoranda of Understandings that focus on the Indiana’s hardwood industry. These three agreements “recommend measures that would be beneficial and helpful to increase trade and cooperation within the forest products industry.”
Lt. Governor Ellspermann said, “We are eager to open new markets and find new customers for Indiana forestry and agricultural products, as well as encourage investment in Indiana.”
Indiana grown high-quality hardwoods enable the state to rank first nationally in the production of wood office furniture and wood kitchen cabinets; second in manufactured homes; third in engineered wood products; fourth in pre-fabricated wood buildings; and fifth in upholstered wood furniture.
