Michigan Dry Bean Checkoff up for vote

The Michigan Department of Agriculture is asking the state’s dry bean growers if they want to continue the state checkoff for the next five years.

The Michigan Bean Commission was created to support the economic position of the state’s dry bean farmers.  Producers are currently assessed 10 cents per hundredweight.

Ballots will be mailed on September 11th and must be returned by the 27th to the department.

More than half of the votes casts, representing more than half of the total production, must approve the checkoff for it to be continued.
