Minnesota cattle producer speaks up to those “trying to shut down meat production”
A cattle producer is responding to narratives that portray the livestock industry as harmful to the environment.
Mike Landuyt operates a feedlot in southwest Minnesota and serves as the Region III vice president of policy for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He tells Brownfield NCBA sent staff to the recent COP28 Summit in Dubai.
“Because it’s all over the news (that) they are trying to shut down meat production, so we need to just try to make sure we’re getting the point across just how much our producers do believe in conservation. And in my case, we’re coming up on 100 years of my family living on our farm (and) we’re not trying to do things that are going to not make it be there another 100 years. So we just need to get that word out.”
He suggests farmers continue to be more efficient while not sacrificing productivity.
“Just because something that we used to do, now we know not to plow as much and that kind of stuff. But just remind everybody that was the best they knew how to do then, and that’s what it took. And now we’ve found another way and we’re doing it another way.”
Landuyt says the U.S. has the lowest emissions of any beef-producing country in the world.

Alot of is due to the fact that our Liberal Democrats and this country in general has gotten away from the Bible and are ignorant to the Bible and we are living in a day and time that we have a famine of the Bible, (The Word if God). God’s word tells us that the Cattle and the Herbs is for the use of man. It also tells us that He (God) put man over the earth to subdue it, to be good stuards of it. I’ve been a farmer all my life and for the most part Farmers are trying their best to take care of the earth to keep it and help it be better by emproving their practices so that is sustainable for the next generation. It’s the farmers way of Life and so why wouldn’t he try to take care of it to make it better! The Cattle graze the land and the manure helps fertilize the earth so that it will help keep it growing. Yes, you can plant more beans and corn, but some land is only suitable for grazing. You get rid of the Cattle and then the land grows up in Brian’s, thistles and all kind of mess and then it is a fire hazard and so on. The Cattle give us healthy meat to consume and hides to use in all kinds of materials. We need Healthy Meat and not just live on Plants and Vegetables. Yes, Plants and Vegetables are good, we need Meat as well and I almost Gerantee that the Liberal Democrats that are pushing all the Cimate Control Garbage will still eat Beef and get it from somewhere. It has alot to due with the fact of Control and if they can Kill the Farmer and his way of Life they are a step ahead in that direction. We need to be good stuards of the Land, but the simple fact is that God is in control and people has forgotten that. The Bible, The Word Of God) says in Genesis 8:22 in the KJV ( While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.) We need the Word of God back in our Country and we need the Cattle Farmer and all the other Farmers! My hats off to every Farmer! The Farmer is the over worked and under paid American. They do it because they Love the Land and the Hertitage that was left to them. Yes, they could pursue something easier and make a living, but they Love the land and the Hertitage that has been given to them. God Bless the Farmer and God help our Country!

It seems when the rich or governments want to control an industry they simply say the industry is bad for the environment and people that have surrendered their ability to think freely fall in line with the manipulation. It is difficult to believe that cattle do more harm to the environment than thousands of airplanes dumping millions of ton of pollutants into the atmosphere and yet they are not reducing air travel.

For one thing, stop crying when one of your cows, per year, gets killed by a wolf that roams on government land that your cows feed on. Those wolves have more right to live on that land than you. You’re paid for the loss, but you keep crying

I am a Beef producer as well. And I have been feeding cattle for 30 years. I and my family eat the same beef we grow for others with enjoyment that we have a good healthy meal. In my opinion the beef raised today is probably better quality than the beef from say 20 years ago because of the knowledge, the facilities, and the regulations involving animal medicine’s.

The 12000 year upheaval that’s predicted to start in 2024 is the sure sign that the lie of man made climate change was started by a greedy politician. Cattle and those like them have been on earth as long as we have, millions of Buffalo raced across America long before European discovery, there was no climate change then, so why is it that a few gullible idiots are trying to tell me and others like me that our beef industry is killing our planet?It’s THEIR B.S. THATS THE PROBLEM.!!! I was raised on a farm, I raised my kids on a farm, we drank fresh milk daily, we processed our own animals. WE TOOK CARE OF THE LAND AND ALL THAT LIVED ON IT, PLANTS, ANIMALS AND BUGS. City slickers fed B.S. have destroyed lives and livelihoods out of ignorance and self-righteous stupidity.

I APPLAUD your efforts ALLLL the way from Northern Arizona from the Navajo reservation. Who’s going to raise the BEEF? It’s not easy but for damn sure well worth it at the end of the day. They don’t come straight from BK, McD, etc. He who portrays livestock industry as “harmful to the environment” needs to be educated n actually put on the farm, on the range, IN school to learn about the industry. It’s NOT just cattle industry, it’s just about everywhere, everyone’s behavior that is harmful to the environment. Keep ranching. It’s healthy.

Just like other “green” environmental issues, the rise of CO²gases is a non issue. The current levels are about in the middle of the acceptable range. If it gets much lower, plants won’t be able to grow and current measurements show the rise of carbon dioxide at a minimal level. So yet another scare tactic for government control. (Current research)

So what does he propose? When nmanaged properly, cattle can sequester several times as much CO2 equivalent as they produce while enriching the soil. The author should have described those techniques.

Today, the American farmer’s primary product is social hatred. I stopped going to all the cutesy farmers markets here in PA because they’re disgusting, uneducated fascists.
I buy Canadian and Mexican as much as I can.

It’s out of r control… packers .. jbs… r spending lots of monies on lab grown meats now…I think it’s was approved in USA for sale aready…I don’t think the the general population will not care if it’s lab grow… we all r ok with eating roundup everyday.. I’ve read 70 percent of u s citizens have it in their bloodstream
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like a big juicy steak.. leave cattle market alone!
