Minnesota Milk pleased with Governor Walz State of the State speech

The director of Minnesota Milk is pleased Governor Walz propped up dairy in his State of the State address last week.

Lucas Sjostrum says one of the few individuals the Governor talked about during the speech was Lake City dairy farmer Deborah Mills.

“He acknowledged within that portion of his speech that dairy was facing one of its most difficult times, and talked about health insurance and mental health (and the importance) of coming together on those things.”

He tells Brownfield overall, Governor Walz showed Minnesotans farmers are important to his administration by mentioning agriculture often.

“I was really pleased that the Governor’s priorities and tone seemed to match with the rest of the state, and with some agreement that we may not know how to get these things done, but a willingness to get them done.”

Sjostrum attributes much of the Governor’s attention to ag to his time representing Minnesota’s first district and serving on the House Ag Committee while in Congress.
