Minnesota pig farmer represents U.S. at G7 Ag Ministers’ Meeting in Japan

A Minnesota pig farmer represented the U.S. during the recent G7 Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting in Japan.

Dale Stevermer of Easton says USDA invited him to speak on behalf of the National Pork Board.

“I have been pretty well integrated and involved in National Pork Board’s Advancing U.S. Pork Sustainability Grant, and for that reason I was asked if I could attend and I said ‘yes I can.”

Stevermer is a National Pork Board director and tells Brownfield he highlighted producer-led voluntary grants when presenting to ag ministers from all over the world April 22nd and 23rd.

“There’s obviously financial incentives and it’s designed to build up a stronger, healthier market for lower-carbon intensity commodities.”

Stevermer also talked about the aggregate data being collected by NPB to demonstrate how the pork supply chain is becoming more resilient.
