MO farmer elected to Young Farmers and Ranchers Executive Committee

A central Missouri farmer will serve on the executive committee for the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Young Farmers and Ranchers in 2024.

Clarissa Cauthorn tells Brownfield she’ll take over as the vice-chairman in March.

“That means I’ll help lead our group of 18 appointments across the United States, plan our competitive events, the American Farm Bureau Federation’s convention and leadership conference. And then, help those within the group grow as leaders and interpersonally on their farms.”

Cauthorn says the new role will also allow her to help improve the challenges of being a next generation farmer, including affordable healthcare.

“I can’t tell you the number of young farmers who have a spouse that works in town or a job in town, because they can’t afford health insurance on the market as small business owners.”

Cauthorn attended the American Farm Bureau Federation’s annual convention this week in Salt Lake City.
