More must be done before Bayer, Monsanto merger is approved
Bayer has not yet met the antitrust approval needed to acquire Monsanto.
According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Justice Department’s antitrust division wants Bayer to sell more assets to satisfy concerns that the merger will hurt competition.
Bayer has already agreed to sell some of its crop science businesses and is in talks to sell its vegetable seeds business as well.
The German company says it is working with officials to complete the merger by June.
The companies are seeking U.S. and European approval.
