National Beef expected to resume operations Monday at its Liberal, KS facility

National Beef Packing Company is expected to resume production at its Liberal, Kansas harvest facility Monday (March 25, 2024) following a fire that halted operations Thursday and Friday.

The facility has a 6,000-head processing capacity.  It suspended operations after a trailer parked in the loading dock area caught fire and quickly spread to other trailers and a portion of the loading dock area Wednesday evening.

National Beef is preparing to resume production and is working with authorities to determine the cause of the fire and assess the damage.

The closure is not expected to cause any major disruption to production in the beef industry.
