Nebraska corn planting reaches 90 percent

planting-missouri-4-11Corn planting is winding up across most of Nebraska.  As of Sunday, 90 percent of the crop was planted, which is near the five-year average. Emergence stands at 51 percent, behind the 62 average.

Soybean planting and emergence are both running behind normal, with planting at 54 percent and emergence at 13 percent.

The first cutting of alfalfa is underway with 13 percent harvested.  The crop is rated 90 percent good to excellent.  Pasture and range conditions are rated 85 percent good to excellent.

The winter wheat crop is rated 66 percent good to excellent and 29 percent fair. Forty-three percent of the wheat crop is headed, well ahead of the 31 average.
