Nebraska Governor Ricketts announces ag conference agenda

Efforts to grow Nebraska’s food processing industry will be one of the topics discussed at the Governor’s Ag Conference March 7th and 8th in Kearney.

Governor Pete Ricketts says a good example is the Costco chicken plant being built at Fremont.

“About 800 jobs will be created, just in the processing plant–plus the opportunity for about 120 farmers to put up those barns to supply the chickens,” Ricketts says. “That allows them to diversify their revenue stream. It allows them to build equity. It allows them to bring back young people into agriculture. So we want to seek more opportunities like that.”

The conference will also include panel discussions on international trade and Nebraska producers serving in national leadership roles.
