New podcast highlights ag education in Minnesota
A new podcast aims to grow agricultural education in Minnesota.
Natasha Mortenson is one of three hosts of Keepin’ It Rural and says the goals of the show are to see ag education programming in every school, connect more students to FFA, and promote teaching opportunities.
“The three of us are really passionate about connecting teachers and students to agriculture, like the world of agriculture.”
Mortenson’s cohosts are Rebecca Paskewitz, the ag teacher at Glencoe-Silver Lake, and Lindsay Fulton, the owner of Blondie’s Butcher Shop in Wanamingo.
She tells Brownfield the podcast is a great way to encourage teachers and provide them resources.
“I was a teacher in agriculture and I definitely did not know everything. Nobody could possibly know how to grow every single commodity and raise every single type of animal that we raise for food animals. And this is allowing them to have a resource for their students to learn, something they maybe don’t know a lot about.”
Keepin’ It Rural is available on Spotify and Apple podcasts, and Mortenson says a website is in the works.
