OFBF annual meeting will be remote and offer virtual, limited in-person options

The 2020 Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting will be remote this year because of ongoing coronavirus-related health department orders and limited indoor gatherings.

OFBF Executive Vice President Adam Sharp says the format of the event will allow members to tune in to the meeting in small groups around the state.

“We are encouraging our members if they’re comfortable to get together in small groups to participate in the meeting in particular our business sessions and policy session when they interact with each other,” he says.

He tells Brownfield delegates will still vote on policies and leadership during the meeting.

“We will move through the normal process of our policy development which a large democratic process where issues are brought forward and debated and voted on,” he says  “While anybody will be able to watch, we have software that will allow us to have just the voting delegates be able to vote.”

Sharp says county farm bureaus are currently shaping the policy issues that will be discussed during the meeting.

“There will be plenty of discussion around the interruption to the agriculture industry this past year because of COVID-19 and I’m anticipating recommendations that will talk about these disruptions and what might be our policies to address them,” he says.

The delegate and business sessions will take place December 11. Presentations of awards and recognitions will take place online earlier that week.
